NYP tasks youths on new innovation through technology

 


 Chioma Aja, Deputy Speaker, Nigerian Youth Parliament has charged young persons in the country on need to broaden their skills on new innovations and support good governance as part of efforts to achieve more better nation. 



Aja, who made the remarks on Tuesday in Abakaliki, while speaking with the newsmen said the youth required the right spur through skills that could be apply into the system.


She noted that such skills could go a long way in tackling some of the challenges facing the youths in terms of development.



The speaker, however commended the state of youths participating in government in the country, urging them to be firm and bold to show interest in leadership position.


"Yes, the youth has the quality that can make positive change needed for a sustainable development. 


"We urge the government at all levels to create more enabling environment, aiming at youth empowerment to achieve the desired change for the people.


"The youth should invest in future innovation and jobs like technology, avoid disorder and support good governance for more better nation.


"There is more need for youth participation in government and we can make if we can embrace skills and develop them," Aja said.



The Speaker recalled that it partnered with the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to mark 2021 edition of the International Women Day. 

She stated that a round table conference were organised during the event to tackle challenges affecting women and to help them get better. 

She explained that the parliament could use feed backs from the event to address issues concerning them. 

"The round table discussion during the event was to enable us get evidence base programmes to help women become better. 

"The parliament will help  protect rights of young women through proper legislation," Aja said.
