Today being 15th March marks the birthday of Dr Tiben Benz Nwali - the Publisher and Managing Editor of the Leaders Prime Newspaper, Sunday Ekuma delves more about the Ebonyi born media guru and a greater achiever in the academic world.
Dr Tiben Benz Nwali is a man of many parts. He is a known industrialist, a media guru, an erudite scholar, a public affairs analyst, a dogged fighter of what he believes, a goal getter, a motivator, a mentor and a man of the people in diverse forms.
Born over 4 decades ago in Umuezeokoha, Ezza-Effium in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, he became a rare gem even though he grew from a very humble background, but he never allowed his background to keep him on the ground.
Tiben has always stood tall against odds to overcome the challenges that come his ways. He began his elementary school first at Umuezeokoha State School, Nwekendiegu, Effium and finished at Igwebuike Primary School also in Effium, Ohaukwu L.G.A.
With the burning desire to acquire more education, Tiben emerged as one of the pioneer students of Community Secondary School, Onuebeta Effium where he displayed his unique make-up as an upcoming scholar of the 21st century.
He later proceeded to the prestigious Boys’ Secondary School, Iboko in Izzi Local Government Area where he made his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in good grades in 1999.
This great image maker was determined to climb the ladder of academics to change the narratives of his background and make positive impact to his generation.
He got admission to study Public Administration (although, with burning desires in communication) in Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and graduated with good grades. Fully satisfied with the quality of education in EBSU, Tiben Benz Nwali continued his education journey in EBSU for his Master of Science Degree (M.Sc.) in Public Administration which he obtained with specialty in Public communication, Development Studies and Public Policy Analysis.
As a man who does not settle for the less, he gained admission for his Doctorate Degree in the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. In his usual excellent performance, this fine breed called Tiben broke another record at the institution by becoming the first to have scored the highest grades in Doctoral Thesis in Public Administration since the inception of the Department in the University.
As a result of this noble feat, Dr. Tiben was given an award of academic excellence by the Nnamdi Azikwe University during his Doctoral Convocation.
Being a carrier of knowledge and education, Dr. Tiben Benz Nwali also holds Basic Certificate in Theology from Global Theological Seminary, Aba, Abia State and belongs to many professional bodies such as member, Charted Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management (CIPDM), member, Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, (ACSPN), member, Public Administration Society of Nigeria (PASN) among many others.
Tiben is a gifted writer, an orator, a renowned columnist and social commentator who has published widely in reputable International and local learned Journals, having at present over 70 publications in Journals and textbooks. He is an editor of many books and international Journals of repute.
As a media and information manager, Tiben Benz Nwali is currently the Publisher and Managing Editor of the popular Leaders Prime Newspaper, known for integrity and strong voice. He is the Editor-in-Chief of PrimeGold Magazine and Chief Editor of Public Affairs and Infoscience Research (PAIR).
As a man who many people have described as a born leader and teacher, he has continued to impact positively in Nigerian society as a revered Lecturer in the Department of Political Science of Evangel, Akaeze and the Department of Public Administration, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu where he teaches courses at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
Testimonies of his positive footprints abound in these institutions where he has served in a number of University Committees and supervised a number of M.Sc. and PGD. Dissertations and Projects. Because of his passion and dedication to work, coupled with touch of professionalism, he was appointed the Director of Public Affairs, Evangel University, Akaeze, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
As a unionist, Tiben Nwali is the Vice President of Ebonyi Union of Newspaper Publishers, since 2016. He was the President of Umuezeokoha Students Union, Azuoffia Effium in 1996-1999. He is currently the Executive Director of De Oasisworld Integrated Company and many other business conglomerates.
