Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State, Wednesday received the Nigerian Envoy to the Republic of Zambia, Amb. Nwannebuike Ominyi in the Exco-Chambers, Old Government House Abakaliki.

Umahi who amid the State Executive Council members congratulated Ominyi for his pedigree which led to his appointment by Mr President as the Nigerian Ambassador  to Zambia, saying Ebonyians are happy to honour him.

He said: "I am happy we are receiving you in the Exco today.  it's one of the highest honours we give to our own.

"And from your pedigree, you deserve it. I know you are a very intelligent person and you made a very wonderful statement.  The statement is when you go about what do you see.

"And if you check very well, you will reason why today, Ebonyi people have been taking to the social media. Why is that we have no other work than politics. I realized that the foundation was not made strong when our leaders where sojourning from Anambra to Enugu, Imo to Abia, and fate brought us together.

"No foundation was made for us. Everybody of us is all about politics. We have no any other address, means of livelihoods, meaning that we have to make effort to change the narratives to sustain ourselves and families. That's why I'm very happy for your person. It has to be copy and paste. That's only way we can move forward. Even as a nation we have to do copy and paste."

Governor Umahi also commended the infrastructural development of President Muhammadu Buhari in the South East region, pointing that no other President in country has ever built such project in the zone.

"I was on Enugu-Airport road, I saw the fantastic work of Mr President. No one ever did that kind of work on that road."

He however, urged politicians to always have second address while trading in politics for survival.

Earlier, the Nigerian Ambassador to Zambia, Ambassador Nwannebuike Ominyi extolled the leadership style of Umahi, describing him as the best governor in the country.

He also expressed gratitude to God for using Mr President to appoint him into the ambassadorial position.

Ominyi explained that after being cleared by the Senate, travelled to his designated country as Nigerian Envoy.

He disclosed that a letter of prudency has been issued to him by Mr President and already at verge of leaving the country for his ambassadorial duty in Zambia.

"I deem it proper to come to tell you Sir, myself will be leaving the country any moment within the April. As number one citizens of this state, I hold that position on trust for you and therefore, I am responsible to be reporting to you and the entire state.

"And in the Igbo adage, they say,  'ejeweje asi kara Eze, alawa asi kara Eze,' (whenever you are leaving your house tell your father and whenever you come back equally tell your father). Let me thank you for squeezing out your tight schedules to receive me, and extension of your work in Zambia demands of my accountability to you. Give me advice any time it is necessary, reprove me when it is important Sir. I want to assure you, that I will correct everything. I look forward by the grace of God, after I have finished my service, to return to account to Ebonyi people to tell them that I'm back," he stated.

He added: "In diplomatic mission, we don't have strong or fat budget, but what we have is fat and strong contacts. And I want to pledge Ebonyi people that whatever I can do to better the welfare of Ebonyi citizens and Nigeria at large, I will not hesitate to do that."

The Ambassador had earlier expressed sadness over the killings of over fifteen  defenceless people by alleged herders in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state during the event.
