Nwebonyi knocks on Anyim, cohorts, says PDP strategizes to wrestle power in 2023

The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi, Barr Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has urged the party faithfuls to never allow themselves to be deceived by the antics of the suspended members in the state, saying, the party is determined and strategizing to wrestle power in 2023.

Nwebonyi made the call in a press statement issued and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki.

The statement which he caped as "no matter the intrigues, justice prevails", urged the PDP faithfuls to remain steadfast and not be swayed by the antics of the suspended members in the state.

This is following the Federal High Court's ruling which authenticated the elected leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State under his watch.

He said that "the members and teaming supporters of the party should know that justice always triumphs over injustice.
That victory  I have said, is victory for democracy. It means that the elected executives of the party will serve out the full period of their tenure."

"The party has the right to sanction erring members and that is just the reason the Abuja guerillas were suspended last year. Their suspension gave rise to their scheme to dissolve all the elected executives of the party in the state. They could have appeared before the disciplinary committee set up to investigate the allegations against them but rather chose to distabilize the PDP in Ebonyi State so that the national assembly members from the party would have reasons to join the governor in the APC, as the condition for the defection of a serving legislator in the national assembly requires. But they got it wrong. Their suspension from the PDP is enough ground for them to defect.

"I wish to make it categorically clear to members of the PDP and the general public that all those parading themselves as caretaker executives of the party are all suspended from the party, including Ali Odefa who parades himself as the Southeast zonal Chairman. By viture of the fact that Ali Odefa is suspended, he cannot act as chairman of the party he is not a member of. The case of Oshiomhole answers that.

"While the PDP in Ebonyi State is formidable and undettered by governor Umahi's defection to the APC, we have no reason to attack or blackmail the governor as that is not the way to play opposition. The governor exercised his fundamental right of freedom of association and nothing more. He has performed creditably well as governor and we can never fail to attest to that. He is a good party man and PDP will not forget in a hurry his achievements when he was the party chairman in the state. Obinna Ogba was the state chairman of PDP, and nothing can be pointed at as his achievement. Sam Egwu was governor for eight years and the PDP cannot boast of a single structure or any property courtesy of Egwu. Even as governor Umahi is now in APC, he is still more PDP than them.

"Anyim was struggling to be the leader of the PDP in the Southeast while he is a suspended member, by virtue of which he is not a member presently. They should come and face the disciplinary committee and forget the pranks they are playing.

"Finally, I call on all members of the party in Ebonyi State to remain steadfast and not be swayed by the antics of the suspended members. We are determined and strategizing to wrestle power in 2023."
