Information officers charged to be more committed on their duties

The area information officers and public relation officers of the ministry of information and state Orientation in Ebonyi, has been charged to be more committed to their duties by disseminating information on the policies and programmes of the state government.

The Commissioner for information and State Orientation,Barr.Uchenna Orji, gave the charge in a meeting he held with the area information officers and public relation officers at Cabinet office, Abakaliki.




Barr. Orji who described governor David Umahi as a great achiever,especially,in the area of infrastructure and human capital development,said,the meeting was to review performance in the process of disseminating information on the good works of governor Umahi,stressing that for the past six years,the governor has demonstrated strong will and capacity to move the state forward in robust development.

His words,"why we had this meeting was to evaluate performance,to appreciate our challenges,and to also bring about solutions. We have agreed that we need to do more to really ensure that we let the whole world know the wonderful strides that our dear governor has attained in the last 5 to 6 years. 

"We have agreed that Ebonyi state is no longer what it used to be. That all of us,whether we are residents or non residents,anybody who comes to Ebonyi state will say of a truth,Ebonyi state has been transformed by a singular man.
We are saying in one accord that we stand by him in all the programmes and projects he is doing,even his aspirations".

Barr. Uchenna Orji,assured that ministry of information as the mouth piece of government, will put more vigour and efforts in ensuring that the whole world is kept abreast of the wonderful works of governor David Umahi in infrastructure and human capital development.

In a remark,the permanent secretary,ministry of Information and state Orientation, Hon. Kenneth Uhuo, said, with the tremendous achievement recorded in the state by governor David Umahi,the work has been made easier to be reported without twisting tongues.

He urged the state Information officers to go all out to carry out their statutory duty of disseminating information on the projects and programmes of the state government,assuring that the ministry on their part,wiil always do their best to assist the area information officers and public relation officers,to  overcome challenges that confront them in their areas of assignments.

The NUJ chairman,Information chapel,Mr Moses Eze,and Mrs Silvia Igiri,treasurer,state council of NUJ in their separate remarks,appreciated the commissioner for Information,Barr.Uchenna Orji,and management of the ministry,for the routine evaluation meeting,which they said,helps the area information officers and Public relation officers to air their challenges,for better a performance.

They assured that the Information managers will remain committed to their duties,just as they called on the chief executives of various ministries,and the 13 local government chairmen of the state,to always carry information officers and PROs along in the scheme of things.
