As the quest for South East presidential slot in 2023 continues to be on high demand, the Honourable Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution who doubles as the APC Caretaker Chairman in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has described the State Governor, Engr. David Nweze Umahi as a presidential material in view of his tremendous achievements as the State Governor.

The APC Chieftain who dropped this hint while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki on the progress of the ongoing APC membership registration and revalidation exercise in the state, said that  Governor Umahi has won the hearts of Ebonyians with his numerous infrastructural and human capital development projects, which he said was the reason behind the massive turn out for the registration and revalidation exercise.

Chief Emegha thanked His Excellency the Governor, for providing good atmosphere for registration of the masses into the progressive party, stressing that the registration and revalidation exercise was a huge success

He also used the opportunity to respond to the warnings from an Igbo group known as National Forum for South East Presidency which has placed ban on Ndigbo from aspiring for the post of Vice President in any political party, saying that Igbo presidency is not negotiable.

"People that are coming from such utterances are not thinking well enough.  It is only God that crowns the king. People only come to celebrate whom already ordained by God. The handlings of this country is already known by God. Let thy will be done. As such, 2023 is fast approaching. If God says it is going to be from this extraction, it will perfectly come to pass but if he says otherwise it will also perfectly come to pass. APC family is not a troublesome family. So, we cannot say we are ending Nigeria because it did not go this way. What God has designed will come into fulfillment in 2023". He said.

However, he noted that  the Igbos have the best brains to pilot the affairs of the country but people should allow God to decide who succeeds the president.

"Yes we have the best brains to handle this country. If not any other person, our governor is competent and capable enough to handle the country. If he could do what he has been able to do in Ebonyi State within six years, if he is given the opportunity, he will replicate same in the country. It is obvious but we are waiting for the man who is been led by the spirit of God. So, whether he is going to be Vice or not nobody knows and not for someone to come out  and say if you are Vice that you will be killed. who will kill who? Those ones are just trying to attract relevance by talking anyhow on the air believing that people will hear them by such caption. It is absolutely nothing. Nigeria is a united entity and nothing will make us to deviate. Nigeria will remain one". He submitted.

In his part, the APC Vice Chairman, Ebonyi North Zone, Hon. John Nwankata observed that PDP as a party has not treated the Igbos fair, pointing out that the people of the zone had hitherto remained the engine room of the party but unfortunately, the people have been neglected and relegated to the background in the country's political sphere.

Hon. Nwankata who had earlier commended the State Governor and APC Stewarts in the state stressed that with the bold steps already taken by Governor Umahi that the people of the zone would reclaim their political relevance in Nigeria.

Also speaking, a member APC State Working Committee, Mr. Adumu Uchenna noted that Ebonyi State has always been known for one party system which was initially in PDP but now APC is the only political party in the state, adding that Governor Umahi's leadership qualities has paved way for massive defection to APC.

Recall that no fewer than three hundred and fifty members have been registered in each of the pooling units visited in Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Izzi and Ohaukwu Local Government Areas as at the time of monitoring the registration and revalidation exercise by the monitoring team in charge of Ebonyi North Zone.
