DELIBERATE EFFORTS TO CAUSE DISORDER IN EBONYI STATE BY UDEOGU AND COHORTS, SECURITY AGENCIES SHOULD ACT FAST TO FORESTALL CRISIS.
It has been a long while Fred Udeogu and other suspended members of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State started plotting to cause crisis in the state. They started with incitements, slander, and frivolous allegations against the governor in order to curry sympathy and create the impression that in Ebonyi State things are out of kilter. As that antic failed, they deviced another shenanigan whereby they alleged that I was planning to burn down my office. This particular antic earned them public ridicule. They again resorted to using the Effium crisis to whip up sentiment among the people as well as public discontent with the government. Here they were met with public condemnation.
Now they are going to vandalize and perhaps burn down my office as they had planned. It is good security agents responded promptly. It was just brought to my notice that hoodlums attempted to vandalize my office and security agents foiled the attempt.
It is ridiculous the usual frivolous allegations raised in the press release by Barr. Silas Joseph Onu. It is pertinent to note the following:
1. There is an interim Injunction by the state High Court restraining the purported state caretaker committee from parading themselves as executives of the PDP in Ebonyi State. They cannot institute an action before a court of competent jurisdiction in another court of equal jurisdiction and obtain any valid order or Injunction when the matter has not been withdrawn from the first court.
2. They said that they raised complaint a long time ago that the PDP Secretariat was being vandalized while they are attempting to access the secretariat today. How did they get to know of the vandalisation?
3. The Abuja guerillas and their minions here in the state were suspended from the party in November 2020 and they have made no effort to challenge or get their suspension lifted. Thus they are not members of the PDP for now.
4. From available records, Barr. Silas Joseph Onu is not a registered member of the PDP as his name is not in any current ward register.
5. Ebonyians and the security agencies should note with apprehension the incessant and repeated calls for crisis and upheavals in the state by the Udeogu led guerillas, their utterances regarding the Effium crisis, and their several attempts to cause breach of public peace.
For the records, the PDP as an opposition party in Ebonyi State is concerned with strategies to sustain public trust respecting future elections and as such, has no time to indulge in frivolities or join issues with hooligans who have no locus standi. The party is formidable and is in no way deterred by the defection of the governor. Neither are we distracted by the shenanigans of the suspended members of our own party who have become fugitives in Abuja.
I therefore call on the police to arrest prosecute all those who were involved in the attempt to attack the PDP secretariat, and all those making inflammatory statements and social media posts regarding the Effium crisis.
