The Association of Izzi Media Workers, a conglomeration of all Media Workers of Izzi extraction in Nigeria has felicitated with the number one citizen in Ebonyi State and the award winning Governor David Nweze Umahi, his wife Mrs Rachel Umahi, the incorrigible Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru and the entire good people of the State on the occasion of this year's Christmas and new year celebrations.
The Association made the felicitation in a six point communique after its monthly general meeting in Abakaliki.
According to the communique endorsed by the National President Comrade Sunday Nwambam, National Director, Media and Publicity Comrade Boniface Nwankwo and Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ebonyi State Council, Comrade Tony Nwizi, the Association observes that Ebonyians have genuine reasons to celebrate haven survived the turbulence and torrent of the coronavirus pandemic, the #EndSARS protests and host of other disturbances which had posed as cog in the wheel of progress within the outgoing year.
The communique adds that Ebonyians also ought to mark the festivities with orchestra going by the audacious accomplishments of the Governor criss-crossing parts of the State which like soothing balm are assuaging the losses and limitations of the remarkable year 2020.
While expressing optimism of massive prosperity in 2021, the communique further says the Association observes with reservations the unbecoming tension in the State’s political spheres and urges political actors to play by the rules to avoid heating up the polity unnecessarily.
The Association however appeals to security agencies to rise to their duties to tame pockets of violence in parts of the State and ensure that Ebonyians observed the yuletide devoid of criminalities and bickering.
While urging Ebonyians to continue to observe the Covid 19 precautionary protocol as enunciated by the NCDC to avoid the ressurgence of the virus in the State, the Association of Izzi Media Workers wishes people of Izzi clan and Ebonyi State a merry Christmas and prosperous 2021.
