Festive season: FRSC campaigns for safety driving in Ebonyi

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria says safety driving especially during this Christmas and new year celebrations enhances happy celebration.

The Sector Commander of the Corps, Mrs Stella  Uchegbu stated this during the flag-off of 2020  EMBER month safety campaign in  Ochudo  Park Abakaliki, the State capital.

Mrs  Uchegbu said families can only celebrate happily when there is no road crashes that affected such families.

"Driving safely would not only ensure happiness but also increase your savings financially.

" When you drive reclessly, you are bound to get crashed and that would result to going to repair the vehicles, that is if you come out alive". She added.

"FRSC as a lead agency in traffic management in Nigeria, saddled with responsibility of making road safety for all users, came up with the strategy to actualize it's mandate. One major strategy  stipulated by FRSC 2020 corporate strategic goal, for instance, to minimize the risk of deaths in road traffic" she added.

She therefore urged all road users to apply caution while driving.

The State Commissioner for Police Mr Philip Maku who was represented by his Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Orji advised road users to avoid any behavior that can bring their lives and others to grief.

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ebonyi State Command, Mrs Lucy Samu, represented by the CSC Musa Abubakar  called on the road user to avoid drinking alcohol, while driving.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mr Ogbonnaya Ota advised transporters to make use of the lay down  traffic rules to save their lives and others.

Also the state Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, who is also a special marshal in FRSC advised all the road users to obey  all the safety measures given to them.

On his part, the the Chairman of Ochudo Park, Mr Ajah Dandy advised all drivers to eschew cultism.
