Ebonyi First Lady affirms commitment for children, women












 

Wife of Ebonyi Governor, Mrs Rachael Umahi has assured her continued support at all times to better lives of children and women in the state.



Mrs Umahi represented by Mrs Nnenna Igwe, wife of the state Deputy governor said gender justice, livelihood and welfare of children and women would be improved. 

She disclosed this on Sunday in Abakaliki during flag off of 2020 Father Christmas show for children at broadcasting stations in the state. 

"My pet project, Family Succor and Upliftment Foundation and the state government are working hard to better lives of children in the state. 

"They will be constant interventions to boost lives of children and women in the state," Umahi said. 

She encouraged children to be good ambassadors of their families and the society. 

The first lady while drawing attention of parents over Gender-based Violence (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), urged them to report cases and ensure proper upbringing of their children to eradicate socal vices in the society. 

The General Manager, Unity FM Abakaliki, Mr Rex Eze applauded Mrs Umahi for her various intervention programmes for the people. 

"Her efforts so far to put smiles in the faces of women and children in the state, is commendable. 

"We will continue to collaborate with her to promote women and children in the state," Eze said. 

The Agency reports that the annual event celebrated at Unity FM, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the State Broadcast Commission (EBBC) featured children from thirteen local government areas of the state. End
