Convocation: President Buhari commends management of AEFUNAI

The Nigeria President,  Mohammadu Buhari has commended the management and staff of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo (AEFUNAI) on  their relentless efforts to make the school  one of the best in the world.




President Buhari who was represented by the Minister of Education for state, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajuba made the commendation during the Alex Ekwueme Federal University's Ndufu Alike Ikwo's Fifth (special) convocation ceremony in Abakaliki Ebonyi State  capital, Southeast Nigeria.



Mr Nwajiuba urged the management, staff and the school benefactors to continue with the pace with which the school is developing.
"Though the school is a young one but with this rapid development am seeing around, tarred roads everywhere, the school might grow to be one of the best in the world". He said.

He urged Academic Staff Union of University ASUU to always bear the nation in mind while pressing home their demands.

"With all these infrastructural development around me here, without lecturers in the classrooms, it is virtually impossible to achieve the dream goals of the young University". He added.

The Minister maintained that all Nigerians should be aware that the country is in economic recovery and also in a hit of economic recession.

The Chancellor of the University, Dr Michael   Adetotun who is also a Paramount ruler of Egbaland, thanked Mr President for honouring the school.

The Pro-Chancellor  of the University, Professor Nimi Briggs said the numerous achievements in the school is as results of the unity among the propellers of the University.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba thanked the management and staff and all who have donated their money and contributions in one way or the other to ensure that the school is developed.

Professor Nwajiuba said even his personal festive gifts from people was converted to building materials to be used in development of the University.
"I decided to re-chanel  my Christmas, birthday, Easter and other festive gifts to school because of the passion I have for the University". He added.

He pleaded to the school management not to allow the good image of the school to die even when he leaves the school.

CONFERMENT OF HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREES  

Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo AEFUNAI during the ceremony,  conferred  Doctorate Degree in Business Administration to three awardees; Dr Asiwaju Olatunde, Dr Anayo Onwuegbu and Dr Michael Okoroafor.

One of the awardees, Dr Anayo Onwuegbu on behalf of others pledged regular financial support to ensure rapid development of the University.
