Sir Edward Okereke Nkwegu (EDON) has urged the members of All Progresives Congress, APC, to accommodate the new and old friends that want to join the party to enable them plan their political future as the 2023 general elections gradually draw close.
EDON made the call following the report that Governor David Umahi was blocked by Southeast APC leaders not to join the party and other arguments injecting sentiments against the people coming into the party.
He was cited in the statement shared on the Ebonyi Liberation Mission's official Facebook page.
Architect Edward Nkwegu is an illustrious son of Izzi Nnodo Ekumenyi, a clan in Ebonyi State and a member captain of industries whose impacts are felt positively in the state and beyond.
The accomplished business mogul and new breed politician, Sir Nkwegu is currently the Chairman, Special Public Workers, the implementation team in Ebonyi State.
He contested Ebonyi State Governorship position in 2015 under the platform of Labour Party and emerged second.
In 2019, EDON equally contested the gubernatorial primary of APC in the state and came third.
But the popular Ebonyi business magnet has called the APC faithfuls to accommodate the like-minded people who wish to join the party in the state.
According to him, "this time indeed is not a time to make enemies or to avenge wrong deeds accrued to political grievances or its related sentiment.
"It is indeed a time to mend fences, pitch tents and rebuild the fortress, prowess and dignity of our great party, APC and the honour of our founding Fathers of Ebonyi State for the betterment and future of our unborn leaders of Ebonyi.
"I urge you all to welcome old and new friends, meet and plan ahead of the political future of Ebonyi State.
"To the youths, this is the time to unite and bind as one entity irrespective of the political odds before and now.
"Be rest assured tomorrow will be better and greater than today..... EDON."
Though, the speculations making rounds that EDON may likely join the Ebonyi State governorship race in 2023 as his zone has the greater chance to produce the first citizen of the state on the grounds of power rotation observed since 1999 till date.
It could be recalled that power rotation in the state's number one seat led credence to the emergence of Governor David Nweze Umahi in 2015 gubernatorial election, when greater Izzi sons and daughters left their brother (EDON) and threw weight around Umahi, now serving for his second term in office.
