EDON and The 16th Edition of Regina Pacis Foundation Holding on Thursday

Few days to come, the 16th annual festival of Regina Pacis Foundation will be held, Comrade Boniface Nwankwo, a Public Affairs Analyst writes:

On Thursday 19th November 2020, all roads will lead to Regina Pacis Villa, Okpoduma Nwofe, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State for the observance of the16th edition of the Foundation’s festival of charity.

Founded in 2004 by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Barcelona Hotels, a conglomerate of EDON Group of Companies, Architect, Sir, Dr Edward O Nkwegu, OFR,  Ksji and his peace-loving family, the Foundation has no doubt left indelible footprints in the sands of time.

The Foundation Board of Trustees is made up of respectable personalities who have in no small measure proven their mettle in their various choice of trade.

The Foundation Board of Trustees which is composed of Reverend Father JohnPaul Nwankwo as Chairman, Right Reverend Monsignor A.O Iwueke, Reverend Father Augustine Aka, Reverend Father Daniel Agara, Reverend Father Gilbert Edigbo, His Royal Highness Eze Emmanuel Nwojiji, His Royal Highness Eze Emmanuel Okeye and Managing Director Okwo Oha Microfinance Limited, TPL Opia Francis as Board of Trustee Members functions on the footing of its motto “to uplift Humanity”.

The Foundation's mission and vision statement is to provide succour to the poor, needy and less privileged in the area of Employment, Education, Empowerment and Human capital development.

Over the years, the Foundation through the instrumentality of the Founder and reputable Board of Trustee Members has touched so many lives positively in various spheres of human endeavour in line with its guiding principle which is to uplift humanity.

Innumerable number of youths have been trained in the reputable Regina Pacis Skills Acquisition Institute located at number 1 Sir Edward Nkwegu Close, off Ogoja Road Abakaliki while so many indigent students have been able to complete their academic programmes in various Institutions of Learning courtesy of the annual scholarship grants from the Regina Pacis Foundation.

On yearly basis, the Regina Pacis Foundation proudly raises and graduates about one thousand skilled Ebonyi women and youths through its programmes across the 13 LGAs in various chosen trade such as Tailoring, Draftsmanship, Welding, Trading, Engineering, Hair dressing, Fashion and designing, among others.

Uncountable number of indigent women have also severally received interventions from the Foundation to either set up petty businesses or sort out certain pressing family challenges.
The good news is that virtually all beneficiaries of the Regina Pacis Foundation interventions are all doing pretty well in all their chosen disciplines and they all are certified indigenes of Ebonyi State,Abakaliki origin.
It is gratifying to note that the Founder and Board of Trustee Members despite not occupying any Public office have been able to sustain this programme of charity bearing in mind a saying by Frank Clark that “a strong reputation doesn't come from having too much but by sharing too little."

This perhaps was the reason the Founder and Board of Trustees procured and distributed tons of relief materials as palliative to various needy households and poorest of the poor at Prisons, motherless babies, Mile 4 home of the blind, beggars in front of Saint Theresa's gate, labourers in front of Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Men and women of the security forces, Hausa quarters among others in the wake of the Covi-19 pandemic to enable them resettle and have soft landing after their sources of livelihood had been devastated by the global pandemic.

As a meticulous philanthropist and lover of the less privileged, EDON and his dependable Board of Trustee have been encouraged by the words of Mother Theresa that “unless life is lived for others, it is not worthwhile “ as they go about impacting the lives of the poorest of the poor in the society.

EDON no doubt, has through the Foundation underscored the aptness of the political philosophy of former President of the United States of America John F Kennedy “think not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."

This genuine show of love to the poor further demonstrates that one does not necessarily have to be at the corridors of power or be stupendously rich to reach out to the needy in the society.
This is so, as we can always find people whose living standard we are better of in our neighbourhoods who we can assist with the little we can afford.

And in keeping with their penchant for charity, the Founder, Board of Trustees and the entire management and staff of Regina Pacis Foundation invites friends, business associates and the general public to their 2020 annual festival and thanksgiving on Thursday 19th November 2020 by ten o'clock in the morning at Regina Pacis Villa, Okpoduma Nwofe.

The ceremony will among other things feature Holy mass, scholarship awards, cultural displays among other numerous activities.

All and sundry are encouraged to show up and be part of this epoch making event aimed at improving the lots of the hoi poloi in our midst.
To God alone be the glory.
