A member representing Ezza South /Ikwo Federal Constituency in the Green Chambers, Hon. Chinedu Ogah has disbursed over N50 Million to 200 students of various tertiary institutions as educational grants during the weekend, NATIONAL PANEL gathered.

According to the Nations News, the disbursement took place at the Women Development Centre, Abakaliki.

Apart from the lawnmaker's constituents, four students from Ohaozara and one from Afikpo North local government areas of the state were reportdly  benefited from the grants.

Ogah in his address, urged the beneficiaries to be dedicated to their studies and avoid acts that could jeopardise their future.

He noted that the grants were part of his 2020 constituency projects aimed at providing educational and social empowerment to members of his constituency and charged them to make judicious use of the fund.

He reminded the students that they are the future leaders of the country who required fundamental leadership and educational training to enhance their capacity to lead.

“In constituency projects you are allowed to fix money in a project; some can fix it in training, some can fix it in supplying fertilizers while some can fix it in buying clothes for their wives.

“But, I deemed it necessary because most of you are upcoming leaders; you are those that have the future, you are among those if you really chart your future, you are going to stand more than us in no distant time.

“This is why we have deemed it necessary to map out some money from the budgetary allocation of N50 million to give some scholarship grants to most of you.

“We did part one of this scheme in December where we gave about 850 secondary school students education grants to assist them in their certificate examinations.

“We have received calls from most of those beneficiaries telling us that they made their exams.”

He further charged the students against channeling the fund in frivolous lifestyles but rather put it into good and effective use.

“Some of you here have planned what to do with the money. Some have planned how to buy Christmas items with it, while some of you who are boys have planned how to buy gifts for your girl friends and same with the girls; but, I want to tell you that it’s all about your future,” he said.

Ogah admonished the beneficiaries to use the grant to add values to their lives and plan well for their future.
