Women in Leadership, NANS campaign for gender equality

A convener of Women in Leadership who is also the Vice Chairman National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Joint Campus Committee, JCC, Ebonyi State Chapter, Comrade Miss Oluchi Nwite has called on Government, None Governmental Organizations and Individuals to give a girl child equal treatment in the society.

She made the call when her group visited the Special Assistant to Ebonyi  State Governor on Inter party and Labour Relations, Comrade Mrs. Jenifer  Adibe-Nwafor in old Government House Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

Miss Oluchi said the visit is a part of  campaign on voilence against women to mark this year's International Day of girl child.

She said the fundamental rights of a girl child should be upheld at all times.
"A woman is not a punching bag or a sexing machine, therefore she deserves her  rights. She should be allowed to take part in policy making in the country". She added.

She expressed her readiness to ensure that a girl child rights are protected to the least.
" Women are not animals and their ill-treatment against them must stop". She expressed.
Also, the NANS' Director on Special Duties,  Comrade Nwuruku Alfred said violence against women is inhuman. 

On her part, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Inter Party and labor Relations, Comrade Mrs Jenifer Adibe-Nwafor thanked the group for the visit and promised to support the fight.

The group also visited Community Secondary School, Ishieke where Sanitary pads were distributed to the girls in the School.
