NISLT to partner Ebonyi govt to tackle environmental problems

Scientists have been charged to intensify effort in research to come up with solutions to some environmental challenges facing the society today.

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Environment, Comrade Jonah Egba gave the charge when he received in audience, the members of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory and Technology, NISLT, South East Zone on a courtesy call in his office, at Centenary City Abakaliki.



Egba affirmed that until they rise up to the environmental challenges, the world would continue to suffer environmental problems.


However, he used the occasion to solicit the cooperation of the institute to assist the ministry to realize the dream of the state Governor Engr. David Nweze Umahi on Environmental sustainability in Ebonyi.

The Commissioner advised them to take advantage of research facilities provided by the present administration such as virology centre and College of Medicine Uburu among others as enabling facilities for research work.


Earlier, the South East Zonal Coordinators for NISLT, Mr Babajide Olalade, said they were in the Ministry to familiarize with the Commissioner.

Mr Olalade who said the institute had been working closely with the Ministry before now, re-assured the commissioner that they would do everything possible to assist the ministry especially in the area of making research works that would assist the government in policy making available to his office.



Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of book titled National Science Laboratory Technology Policy, hand sanitizer and nose-mark produced by the institute .
