NUC approves resumption of varsities





The Nigerian Universities Commission, NUC, has finally approved for the resumption of universities in the country.

It has directed all the Vice Chancellors to fix date of resumption for their respective schools to begin their normal academic activities.

This was contained in a letter signed by the Director in NUC Executive Secretary's Office, Chris Maiyaki. 

The announcement that came after the Federal Government's approval for the resumption of the schools in the country, urged the varieties' management to follow the NUC's directive.

According to the letter, the NUC ordered the universities to follow the COVID-19 preventive guidelines by observing social distancing; applying hand sanitizers which should be provided; and the health care facilities must be orderly.

The NUC promised to carryout regular inspection of school libraries, lecture halls, hostels, staff offices and others due to the recent development.



The letter also warned schools against violating the full cycle of semester system which is in accordance to the NUC Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS).
