Governor David Umahi today commiserated with the deceased's families when visited the Akaeze bridge where auto-accident claimed 30 lives yesterday.

Umahi's Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Francis Nwaze disclosed this in a release made available to newsmen.

The release reads: "The Governor who was visibly saddened by the ugly incident with misty eyes ordered full investigation, warning drivers to always exercise caution while plying routes.

"At the scene of the incidence were personnel of the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency."

However, it stated that, Umahi sympathised with the families of the deceased, saying, it is in his matchless commitments towards the reduction of road accidents that led to massive construction of roads in the state.

It recalled that, "a Mercedes Benz 608 Bus conveying mourners from burial programme in Afikpo North, Ebonyi State yesterday while attempting to overtake a Man Diesel truck plunged into the river, killing about 28 persons.

"As rescue efforts intensified, 15 dead bodies have been pulled ashore while 14 are still being searched for in the resue dive as 4 were rescued alive."
