A socio-political group, Ezza 'Progressive Initiative', has kicked off unity and sensitization tour of all Ezza Communities across Ebonyi State with the sole aim of uniting and mobilizing them to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election, stressing that gone are the days when Ezza clan would play second feather in the political decision of the state.
Speaking during the sensitization tour at Inyaba community in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state, the leader of the group and Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ebonyi State, Hon. Chinedu Alphonsus Nwali, remarked that the group is out to conscientize Ezza clan on need to align with the ruling party so as to be able to benefit abundantly from the government. He explained further that the essence of the visit was to inform them that Ezza Elders have resolved to support the re-election of Governor Francis Nwifuru and other APC candidates in state come 2027.
"The essence of this gathering is that the Ezzas in Ebonyi have resolved that we're going to support the governor and all APC candidates across board. And this resolution has been taken by the elders of Ezza, the traditional rulers, the town union president, the youths, and women leadership of Ezza Ezekuna, and we deemed it necessary that we're going to visit all the communities where our people reside and pass this message across to them, which we have started today here at Azu Inyaba Ward A and B.
"The governor has done a lot for Ezza people. In certain cases, we might say he has given us so many things we don't deserve. This road that leads to this place was constructed by the governor, before now, it will take hours to get to this place, but you observe it didn't take us up to 30 minutes to drive to this place. The peace he has given to our people in the State is something we can never forget in a haste. Our people are now enjoying peace anywhere they reside within the state courtesy of the governor. He has appointed most of our people in juicy positions, even when he lost election in Ezza South and Ezza North. Politically, our prayer is that he will hand over to Ezza man by 2031. As politicians, we have to be calculative, how can someone support someone from the south when somebody from the south just left the seat in 2023, what is going to be our takee. We already have our brother from the North who is going to complete his second term in 2031 and hand over to an Ezza man, so we have to be strategic this time. We want anything that will destabilize the peace of the state, so respect the existing zoning arrangement in the State, though, it was not written, but it has been a guiding principle of our electoral process. Dr Sam Egwu from Ebonyi North did 8 years and handed over to Chief Martin Elechi from the central who also did 8 years and handed over to Engr David Umahi from the South who equally completed his 8 years and handed over back to the current governor from the North who is also going to complete his 8 years and thereafter, will go to central and back to south respectively. We're more interested in the peace we're enjoying in the State than doing anything that will jeopardize the existing peace brought by the gentleman zoning arrangement in the State", he stated.
On his part, the Commissioner for water resources,Hon. Victor Chukwu stressed the need for all Ezza people in the State to support the new directives to improve the political fortune of the clan. "Our people should understand that in politics you have permutations, and the most possible permutations Ezza man has for an improved political fortune is to align with the decision and aspirations of the governor, our leader, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who has over time, demonstrated unflinching love, confidence, trust and brotherhood towards Ezza man. It is on the basis of this Ezza man will deploy the wisest means of politicking which is using what is possible to actualize what we are yearning for. First, we must not be seen as ingrate. The governor has shown love and our development and it good that Ezza people reciprocate that gesture by the way we conduct our during the 2027 election by given him massive votes and other APC candidates. This is not about sentiment, this is not about parochial consideration but for the progress and betterment of Ezza man. We don't want anybody to decieve our people anymore and that's why we have decided to come and give our people first hand information".
Also speaking, a former federal Lawmaker, Chief Lazarus Ogbe, advised the people of Inyaba to heed to the clarion call and give overwhelming support and votes to the APC come 2027. "I've been privileged to have occupied so many positions in Ezza and that's why I am in a better position to advise the people of Ezza and that's why we have stepped out to advise the people of Ezza in every Ward they are occupying in the whole of Ebonyi State, why it is necessary to vote APC. It is like connecting us back to the National grid politically. We must connect with government in our state. The government of Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has so identified with the Ezza man. He has brought peace to where they were crises. He has appointed our people to enviable positions irrespective of the fact that we did not overwhelmingly voted for him in the 2023 election, he forgave us and he's building bridge of friendly relationship. The love he has shown us, we're going reciprocate by giving him a maximum votes. We're voting all APC candidates, no selective voting. The president of Nigeria has done well by connecting Ezza people with road projects from Calabar through Afikpo and a flyover at onueke, the roads through Ezza South, Ezza North to Odumoke in Ebonyi Local Government Area and lots more.
Another member of the team, Mr Emeka Nwoñu, Executive secretary, Local Government staff pension board, enjoined the people to embrace the decision of the elders of Ezza clan to vote all APC candidates from president to governor to national Assembly and state House of Assembly, adding the decision to support the re-election of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and all APC candidates as the best decision so far.
Also speaking, Barr. Uchenna Ottio, the General Manager of Ebonyi Pipe Production company said, the entire Ezza clan has agreed to unite for the common good of the clan. "We all have agreed to have united voice and the united voice is repay the state Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his good deeds to us as Ezza Clan. This repayment is returning a One hundred percent votes for APC across board, and that is the message we have come to deliver to our people. Sensitization is part of politics. Sensitization and awareness is part of governance to refresh the memories of brothers, our mothers, our wives, our sons, daughters and our youths of the dividends of good governance our governor has brought to bare in the State. We must stand in alignment on one course to vote APC at all levels".
A senior Stakeholder and immediate past chairman of Ezza North Local Government Area, Chief Moses Ogodo Ali Nome also lend his voice. "We're in dire need of position we've never occupied. Stories have it that we've been in opposition all this while, we have been denied of being a Governor, being a minister even being ambassador since thirty years of the creation of Ebonyi State. We're desirous of occupying one of those positions, and we think the only we can do it is to belong to the ruling party and that's why we're here", he concluded.
Earlier , Hon. Peter Ogbuewu JP, the Coordinator, Inyaba North DC, Ishielu local government Area. Assured that his DC is fully intact with APC from president of Governor, national Assembly and state House of Assembly".
In his vote of thanks, Hon Uchenna Ekechi, the Town union President, Azuinyaba community applauded the team and assured that his community will vote massively for APC come 2027 general election.
They team donated two cows and undisclosed sum to the people, as women, youths chants in solidarity to the Governor and the visitors.
