The Special Assistant to Governor Francis Nwifuru, on Internal Security, Ebonyi Local Govrrnment Area, Mr Obinna Emmanuel Mbam have sued for peace in the internal disagreement on the village youth leadership in Oroko Onuoha village, a suburb of Abakaliki metropolis.
In a peace meeting with stakeholders of the village, Mbam commended them for the peaceful manner they have conducted themselves amidst the disagreement and enjoined them to sustain the existing peace in the area, noting that the state Governor, Francis Nwifuru has worked hard to enthrone peace in all parts of the state, hence the need for all hands to be on deck in sustaining peace in the area.
Earlier, the stakeholders expressed concerns over the village's leadership, citing issues such as misappropriation of village fund without the approval of appropriate bodies among other things.
They equally requested express approval for the establishment of village vigilante group to maintain peace and enduring security in the area.
The Special Assistant to the governor assured that their request has been and will adequately addressed. He commended the intervention of Ebonyi Local Government Council Chairman, Prince Chinedu Uburu, who facilitated the peace talks. He directed the stakeholders to heed the Council Chairman's words, trusting that the necessary bodies will provide a final verdict on the situation come Saturday.
The stakeholders appreciated the peaceful approach adopted by the Governor's Special Assistant on security, Obinna Mbam and the Council Chairman in resolving the internal differences and assured of their readiness to continue in the path of peace which they have always maintained.
