Ebonyi Police Warns Political Actors Against Violent Act Ahead of 2027 Election

The Ebonyi State police command has assured political parties in the State of level playing field ahead of the 2027 general election in the State, warning political actors against engaging in political violence, harassment and making i inflammatory statements capable causing breach of peace and break down of law and order in any part of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP  Hope Okafor, stated this during media briefing with journalists in Abakaliki, the State capital.

She said the Command is fully prepared for the ongoing electioneering activities, including campaigns for presidential candidates, while campaigns for gubernatorial candidates are scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 9 September 2026.

"Accordingly, I urge all political actors, candidates, and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and strictly adhere to the provisions of the law throughout the campaign period and subsequently the elections.

"The Command remains apolitical, impartial and professional in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities. We will not tolerate acts of violence, intimidation, harassment, disorderly conduct, hate speech, or any other actions capable of threatening public peace or undermining the electoral process.

"Anyone found violating the law, regardless of status, will be dealt with in accordance with the law. All stakeholders are therefore enjoined to play their part in ensuring a peaceful, credible and orderly electioneering process in the State.

"Ebonyi State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property, preventing crime, and maintaining peace across the State.

"I want to assure the good people of Ebonyi State that the Command will continue to adopt and adapt its intelligence-led, proactive and community-oriented policing strategies in tackling emerging security threats.

"I equally call on members of the public to continue to support the Police by providing timely and credible information on the activities of criminals and other persons whose actions threaten the peace and security of our communities, by reporting to the nearest police station or call the command control room on 07064515001".
