Appraising Legislative Impact Of Hon. Stephen Oji Igwe

Appraising two years of Hon. Stephen Oji Igwe (Mansteve) of Edda East state Constituency at the Ebonyi state House Assembly can be and best captured by the words of Williams A. Foster who said that “Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skilful execution.”

In two years, the house member representing the people of Edda East of Edda Local Government of Ebonyi State has proven nothing but a good emissary who is humane, intentional and purposeful in attracting and execution of projects.

Here we are with the list of his projects, engagements and projections, this is confirmed by our team within Edda East State Constituency. 
 
According to Hon. Stephen Oji Igwe,
“In 2024, I attracted 40 solar Street lights to my constituency.

In Education:
I registered 317 pupils from my constituency for First School leaving certificate Examinations.

Sponsored the enrolment of indigent students for WAEC and NECO.

Financial support to various students across Edda local government Area.

Sponsored 13 students in National Teachers Institute (NTI), an NCE programme at Government Secondary school in Afikpo Study centre in 2023/24 section.

Sponsored 13 Students at Afikpo Study Centre of National Teachers Institute on full scholarship in 2023,
And finally attracted the same Institution all the way from the Head Quarters in Kaduna to be stationed at Government Secondary School Owutu Edda in 2024.  

Sponsored students for First School leaving certificate at Okojogho Memorial Primary School Akpughuru Edda.
In conjunction with some stake holders of Oso, we attracted David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH) College of Nursing  to Oso Edda.

Agriculture:

Distributed 157 bags of NPK fertilizer and Agro Chemicals to farmers in my constituency in 2023.

Distributed 108 bags of NPK fertilizer and Urea fertilizers including herbicides to farmers in my constituency in 2024.
I facilitated Agricultural training and financial empowerment in the tune of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000) each for some of my constituents in October 2024.

Employment:

Sponsored 5 youths from the constituents under National Directorate Of Employment in 2023.

Facilitated Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) empowerment of two youths through the governor’s empowerment scheme.

Provided a Grinding Machine for a constituent.
We sponsored 23 youths to Sungai Farms in Owerri and Joseph Farm in Abakaliki.
Secured Civil Service jobs for some of our constituents in 2024.

Attracted G-Care empowerment opportunity for a constituent, G-Care is a worldbank assisted programme.

Facilitated FADAMA empowerment opportunity for 6 beneficiaries in July 2024.
Facilitated the governor’s One Million Naira (1,000,000) grant to an indigent student of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnics in August 2024.

Health Care:

Funded surgical repair of VVF patients at the VVF centre in Abakaliki.
Provided medical support for Mrs Kate Nnachi’s son from Amaekpu Edda.
Assisted numerous constituents in settling medical bills at different times

Leadership:

Pioneered a people oriented leadership by allowing the people of Oso and Idima Edda to nominate and elect their community leaders instead of selected leadership, and they are presently operating on  people agreed constitutions which wasn’t possible until I came on board.

We encourage community leaders, two Traditional Rulers of Oso and Idima, all the village chiefs and traditional rulers in my constituency with stipends at the end of the month.
Two traditional rulers of Oso and Owutu Edda Autonomous Communities Eze-Ogo Aja Ugbo Okoro and Eze Ogo Ama Otu Uzo received their staff of office.

Major projects:

Building of a Health Centre that’s presently at 70% completion at Nde Obasi Oso Edda.

Sunk 7 Boreholes in 7 different locations within the constituency.

Renovating Mini Civic Center of Echara/Ezi Edda.

Preparing to take off the construction of culverts at Nde Anuma Enya at Owutu Edda immediately the civic center is completed.
