A delegation from Ngwogwo Community in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his far-reaching initiatives in the education sector and peacebuilding efforts, describing his administration’s approach as a practical framework for sustainable development.

The group, led by community chairman Deacon Sunday Okeke, paid a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner for Education, Dr Donatus Chukwuma Ilang, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Centenary City, Abakaliki. The visit was both a gesture of appreciation and a forum for community engagement.

During the interaction, the delegation expressed gratitude for the Governor’s commitment to peace and educational advancement, especially highlighting the Commissioner’s role in resolving recent communal disputes within Ngwogwo. The delegation described the current harmony in the area as a direct result of the Commissioner’s thoughtful intervention and inclusive leadership style.

Dr Ilang, in his response, urged the community to remain unwavering in promoting peace and nurturing environments that support educational growth. He reiterated that community development transcends infrastructure, emphasising the importance of social stability and intellectual empowerment.

“Community development is the foundation upon which sustainable peace rests. No society can advance without a deep commitment to harmony and learning,” Dr Ilang stated.

He further described peace and education as twin pillars of national transformation. According to him, any government or community that neglects these priorities compromises its very purpose.

Highlighting the State Government’s priorities under Governor Nwifuru, Dr Ilang noted that strategic investments have been directed towards improving access to quality education across urban and rural areas. He pointed to recent expansions in school infrastructure and programmes designed to foster moral and intellectual excellence.

“No child should be excluded from learning opportunities. We have expanded the network of unity schools, introduced debate and sports competitions, and created platforms for students to express their potential,” he explained.

He called on Ngwogwo leaders to act as ambassadors of the Governor’s education reforms by sensitising parents and local stakeholders. “The strength of this administration lies in its people-centred policies. Your collaboration is vital in extending the reach and impact of our collective efforts,” he added.

Also speaking, the women leader from the community, Mrs Uka Mercy Ugochi,  outlined the purpose of the community’s mission. She emphasised the importance of engaging state actors to formulate effective, localised strategies for national education challenges. Mrs Ogbonna Victoria, Mrs Ngor Elizabeth and Mrs Sarah Aroh thanked the commissioner for love, and Prayed for more upliftment, and protection. Our community people are happy" she noted.
