SDP: Ebonyi Govt Adopts USAID S2S Report

Ebonyi State Government has adopted the State Development Plan presented by USAID State2State team at Government House Abakaliki. The State Commissioner for information and State Orientation, Barr Uchenna Orji made this known while briefing newsmen at the end of the State Executive Council meeting held last week.
According to the Commissioner, "Exco received a report on the State Development Plan (2023 to 2047) presented by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) State 2 State. This plan aims at empowering the State to attain a higher level in economic growth and development by 2047. 

"It is founded on strategic plan pillars with the people as vocal  agenda for the State development. The thematic areas covered are economic development, infrastructural development and social welfare, sustained environment, rural, housing and urban development, and governance plans from 2023 to 2047". He explained

Speaking further on the Development plan, Barr. Orji  added that though the report was adopted owing to its importance, the State head of service was directed to review the report and make further recommendations where necessary.

"Exco noted the thematic areas covered by the report  and the set goal which is to ensure fiscal transparency and to improve the Ease of Doing Business, tax transparency and revenue generation in the State, and approved that the report be adopted as a working document. Exco further directed that the office of the Head of Service, DR. Rita-Mary Okoro should review the report and make appropriate recommendations for consideration in the next Exco meeting. 

"It is expected that the report of the draft development plan will be passed for implementation after the foreword is endorsed by His Excellency the Governor." He concluded.

Meanwhile, USAID State2State have also presented to the State Government the copy of the State Communication Policy Documents. The Ebonyi State team lead of State2State, Dr. Sam Onyia said the policy was development after series of research, consultations and engagement with key stakeholders in the sector. He explained that the policy when implemented would enhance effective communication between the Government and the citizens.

Receiving the document, the State Commissioner for information and State Orientation, Barr Uchenna Orji promised that Government will effectively utilize the policy document to enhance Communication and information sharing in Ebonyi State.
