The chairman of All Progressives Congress APC, in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha has called on everyone to treat every child as the best gift of God to humanity.
He made the call while briefing the press in view of the 2023 Children's Day celebration in Abakakili, the state's capital.
Chief Emegha who described children as the sunshine and hope of every home and the world at large noted that all hands must be on deck to ensure that no child suffers any form of ill treatment either at the family front or in the larger society.
While condenming the spate of violence such as rape, killings against them, the APC boss, urged the general public to speedily report to the appropriate quarters whenever there is an infringement of any part of the Child's Right Act for proper intervention.
He went further to eulogize Ebonyi children who have distinguished themselves in different areas and urged them to continue to strive for excellence always by studying very hard and obeying their parents or guardians.
"I am lending my voice to the global call that every child should be treated with utmost dignity, respect and care because they bring so much sunshine, laughter, and love in our lives".
"I charge the general public to always report any act of violence against these innocent and tender souls to the appropriate authorities for immediate and decisive action. In Ebonyi State, there is zero tolerance to maltreatment against children. The state government does not treat with levity any issue touching on child's total wellbeing and development".
"Every child deserves good education. Let's make the world a better place for them by teaching them the right values and providing quality education for all. Make them feel precious every day because they are our future".
"Even as the state government continuous to invest in the education sector, parents should not deny any child under their roof or care access to education. Do not discriminate amongst them because it breeds hatred and envy".
Theme for this year's celebration is "More money for primary education".
