Christmas: Ikwo Council Chair Harps On Unity Peaceful Coexistence, Forgiveness

The Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo has called on the people of Ikwo to use the opportunity of the Christmas season to exchange goodwill with one another and reflect on the virtues of Jesus Christ in charity, forgiveness and sacrifice.

Mr Nwankwo who gave the advice in his Christmas message to the people of Ikwo, implored them and the entire Ebonyi people to emulate the life of Jesus and remember the less privileged  in the society.

The Council Chairman while congratulating the people of Ikwo Noyo Clan , said he was  delighted to wish them all a very Merry Christmas, as they commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

He said as Christians, this occasion would afford people the requisite opportunity to exchange  goodwill between individuals and their neighbours, families and communities.

The Ikwo Council Chairman explained that if the joy of Christmas must go round, at end of the festivities, people should find satisfaction in how much they gave and not how much they spent on themselves.

He said, as government, he has pursued the  restoration of peace and unity in the Council, just as public power supply is being restored across the Council Area to improve the welfare of the people.

Mr. Nwankwo who said grading and lateriting work have commenced on some roads in the area to ensure free flow of human and vehicular movement in this yuletide, made it clear that a bill for the establishment of Ikwo Local Government Empowerment Scheme Agency recently passed into law by the Legislative Council would create opportunity to lift thousands of Ikwo people out of poverty in the years ahead.

Mr. Nwankwo while welcoming home all Ikwo sons and daughters who have travelled long distances from both within and outside Nigeria in order to celebrate with relatives and loved ones, appealed to motorists to drive safely and urged citizens to avoid all acts that are likely to cause a breach of the peace in the area. He further urged the good people of Ikwo to ensure that they collect their PVCs to be able to demonstrate in practical terms, their support for the present government by voting APC.
