Ebubeagu Arrest Suspected Street Light Cable Thieves

Three suspected street light cable vandals were on Sunday night arrested by members of Ebubeagu security while on routine patrol in Nkaliki axis of Abakaliki.


Speaking to our reporter before handing the suspects over to police, the special Assistant to the Governor on Internal security, Hon Eze Panchris Ikechukwu (Power) said, his men has been on the trail of those street light cable vandals but luck ran out of them when they were intercepted along Nkaliki while conveying the vandalized cable to their buyer.

The suspects who gave their names as Chinecherem  Okpara from Imo State confessed to have been in act for over one year, while Chiagozie John from Iboko in Izzi local Government Area said he has been in the act of cutting the street light amoured cable for the past six months. Another suspect, Henry Elechi from Ezza South said they have stolen cables at Ishieke, Azugwu, Mile fifty, Nkaliki and other axis of the state.

They advised other criminals to desist from criminal acts, promising not to ever engaged in the act again.

The special Assistant to Governor on Internal security, Panchris Ikechukwu Eze, said that criminals usually cut the cables, role them in a tyre to confuse the security and the public from noticing what they are carrying. He vowed that Ebonyi state will remain a hot zone for criminal to operate.

The three suspects has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
