REVEALED: Why Buhari Should Support A Southeast Candidate For President Come 2023

There have been clamors as to which geopolitical zone should produce the next president. The North Easterners have said it is their turn, the North Westerners say it is their turn to give Nigeria the next president. But, history has shown that each of these zones has produced a president before except the South East.

The Southeast Igbos have come out to say that they should be given the opportunity to produce the next president.

The current president, Mohammadu Buhari has not publicly told Nigerians which zone he will support but, it will be good if the president can throw his weight behind the Southeast candidacy.

The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria guarantees the freedom of all. Anybody, as long long as he or she meets the constitutional requirements has the right to vote and be voted for. As much as the president would want to be neutral, he will do well to show Nigerians where he stands.

This is no longer a question of whether there are qualified people from the region to become president, it is a question of whether they will be given the opportunity to produce the next president. The below are some of the reasons Buhari should support a southeast presidency.

1. As the father of the country, the president should that truly he belongs to all and belongs to none by encouraging the country to give the Southeast a chance.

2. Since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999, no Southeast person has become a president. 2023 could be another chance to show them they are part of Nigeria and they have the right just as every other citizen.

3. Some of big members of the All Progressive Congress are from the southeast. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and many others are from the southeast. The president cannot deny the fact that they were instrumental to his success in 2015 and 2019.

This is a clarion call to all Nigerians to make next year's election a successful one. Beyond political party or ethnicity, we must vote for credibility and integrity.
