As more groups across the nation cheer Governor David Umahi for declaring to contest the 2023 presidential election, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Uchenna Orji has called on the Area information and public relation officers to be more committed to their duties as the image makers of government.
Chief Orji, gave the charge while briefing newsmen after a special interaction with the officers at his office in Abakaliki.
According to the Commissioner, the area information and public relation officers must brace up to the responsibilities of the moment by wearing their working spice towards optimal dissemination of government information on its policies and achievements.
He disclosed that the meeting was a strategic approach aimed at reactivating the officers towards discharging their duties especially as the transition processes unfold.
Chief Orji emphasized that the Ministry had undertaken the redeployment of the Public relation officers as well as Area information officers as a way of injecting needed capacity in the dissemination of government information on its developmental policies, programme and strides to the outside world.
He added that the Governor of the State, Chief Engr David Umahi has positively projected the state in the brightest of lights through life changing projects, and needed to be encouraged through commensurate publicity to the comity of states.
Speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Information Chapel, Comrade Lucy Anyim and the Information Officer, office of the Deputy Governor, Mr Emmanuel Onwe appreciated the Commissioner for his commitment towards proper dissemination of developmental Information as well as his proactive disposition to matters of welfare as it concerns the Public relation officers and Area information officers and pledged to brace up to the task of delivering on their mandate.
