Nnamdi Kanu’s re-arrest and the role of Czech Republic

The trending news in Nigeria now is about the re-arrest of the Separatist Leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by Nigerian government.

But, as against the initial rumour that Kanu was arrested in the UK, it has been rather gathered that Kanu was arrested in Czech Republic.

A reliable source who confided in nationalpanelnews.com said that Kanu was arrested in Czech Republic while visiting the country after he travelled from England to Singapore before entering Czech Republic on Friday.

His arrest according to our sources, was with the help of a tip off from the Czech Republic officials to Nigeria government.

We also  gathered  IPOB leader was arrested on Saturday in Prague, Czech Republic by interpol and then extradited to Nigeria to face charges on treason and other alleged crimes.

The attorney General of Nigeria has also disclosed that Kanu would be taken before the Federal High Court in Abuja for the continuation of his trial on charges bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and management of an unlawful society.

Recall that Kanu was granted bail in April 2017 on health grounds but skipped bail after flouting some of the conditions given to him by the court.

Nevertheless, he later left the country albeit unlawfully has been on the run since then.

Justice Binta Nyako who granted him bail on grounds of his ill health later revoked it on March 28, 2019 and issued a Bench warrant for his arrest in any part of the country.
