May Ist: Ebonyi commences fasting and prayer against insecurity

Following the security situation in the country, Governor David Nweze Umahi has convened a 7-day fast and prayer scheduled to commence on Saturday 1st May and end next Saturday 8th May, 2021.

The fasting and prayer according to announcement made by Ebonyi  Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr Orji Uche Orji was to seek the face of God for restoration of peace and stabilizing the security of the country.

Orji said Umahi convened the fasting and prayer in view of the present security situation in the country and in keeping with his covenant to run a God-fearing adminstration as the state governor.

He said that the first and last day shall be marked by a special prayer by the stakeholders scheduled to hold simultaneously at the State Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki, Akanu Ibiam International Conference Centre, Abakaliki and the headquarters of  each of the local government areas from 4pm to 6pm.

Meanwhile, those to attend the special prayer at the State Christian Ecumenical Centre include the Ebonyi Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the State Assembly, the Chief Judge and brother Judges, National Assembly members, State House of Assembly members, State Exco members, Chairmen and members of Boards and Commissions, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Agencies and Extra-Ministerial Departments, EAs, STAs, TAs, State Executives of Christian Association of Nigeria, Elders Counci, Founding Fathers, Leadership of Inter-Party Advisory Committee, State Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council, Local Government Advisory Committee, Leadership of the State Association of Town Unions, Akubaraoha Youth Assembly, Rachel Umahi Women-for Akubaraoha and Market Women Association.

While those to attend the prayer at Akanu Ibiam International Conference Centre are Divine Mandate Pastors, and a selected Exco members, EAs, STAs, TAs to be lead by the SSG.

For those to hold the prayer at the local government  headquarters include Council Chairman and Principal Officers of the Council, Coordinators and Principal Officers of the Develoment Centres, Councillors, Laison Officer  -Management Committee Members, 
Supervisors, Traditional Rulers, Local Government Executives of CAN and
Town Unions.

Other members of the public were enjoined to observe the prayer from their locations as the state radio and television, EBBC shall transmit live the prayer sessions at  the Ecumenical Centre while the Information Officers of each Local Government Area shall ensure  media coverage of the first and final day event.
